Wintering

WINTERING – a day of mindful baking, creating and being in our bodies.

A day of turning towards the gifts of winter……slowing down, tuning in and becoming quiet.

One of the loveliest things we can do as the days grow darker is to turn our hand to creative endeavours such as baking and crafting.

These slowww pursuits create a mindful landscape in which to rest in. Mother nature is leading by example as the nights grow longer and the leaves fall to the ground, and the earth becomes still and quiet. So often though we find ourselves entering winter and doing exactly the opposite!  Let’s instead embrace the rhythms of nature and slow down our bodies and minds through slow mindful ways of being.

Join Paula and Jane to create some Scandinavian Crackers, seasonal works of art and craft, and be guided through somatic mindful practices with body and mind.

If you would like to gift yourself a multi – sensory gentle dive into wintering this is the day for you.

During the day Paula will teach you how to make healthy Scandinavian Rye Crackers (Knackebrod) with a hint of Caraway or Fennel.

Jane and Paula will gather seasonal gifts from nature such as leaves and berries etc  to use in our creative workshop.

Jane will guide a somatic practise of movement, breath and stillness and weather permitting a mindful walk in the wild walled garden.

We will share in the kitchen by the warmth of the aga.

Lunch, tea, coffee and snacks will be provided.

Paula worked for over 15 years with Women and Families living and affected by HIV. Her passion in bread making and a deep understanding of how using your hands in a creative way can connect people to a  deeper level of wellbeing came through her personal experience with mental health. She established Kitty Witch Bakehouse in Firle offering beautifully crafted bread to her local community as well as running baking workshops for communities, and private workshops from her bakehouse.
